Ernie and Mr. Bean at Bendigo

Two very excited little bears - Ernie Dingle and Mr. Bean on their way to Bendigo for the Craft Alive Show recently - brrrrrrrrrrrrrr.......
They were not impressed with the cold! Minus 5 degrees at Coldstream!!!
It was quite chilly to say the least in the showgrounds shed, and we were in an enviable(?) position near the big roller doors, which were open, of course! Arctic wind!!!!
However, we were wearing our warmest clothes, and it didn't take long to set up. But there was the chattering of tiny teeth to be heard from under one of the quilts!
Despite their fur, Ernie and Mr. Bean were planning their emigration to warmer climates!!!!
The stand looked a treat, and the roller doors were eventually closed.
When we arrived at the motel that evening, the two terrors thawed out and began demanding in whining little growls.
"When are we having tea? When are you going to turn on the tellie? Is my electric blanket on? I want a hot chocolate."
And so on.
It was so nice when they fell asleep!
The next day Ernie was thrilled to see Bananas in Pyjamas.
He also had a trip into Farmer Darryl's Animal Farm.....
.....just sitting around.....
.....nearly eaten by a goat.....
.....clowning around up on the roof.....
.....helping with the washing.....
.....and a face-off with Polly. Ernie thought she was a very scarey bird.....
.....he was glad when Farmer Darryl took charge.....
.....time for a rock.....
.....and a sit.....
.....and more sitting.....
.....but this time he fell off.....
.....and after that a coffee with his New Best Friends.....
.....do you think they'd notice if he had a biscuit......

.....and time for a warm-up while he's waiting for his coffee.....
.....time for a bounce.....
.....and time for The Kazoos.....but where are they?.....
.....oooh, there they are.....
.....and it was a bit foggy on the way home.....
.....still foggy.....
.....and foggy at home.
Now to get warm again!

P.S. Mr. Bean was very unhappy. He had to stay put in a special position on the stand because he was part of the teddy bear hunt for all the kiddies, and he missed all the action. He told Ernie that next time it was his turn!
P.P.S. A HUGE thanks to the Craft Alive team - they are so helpful, friendly and organised and can't do enough for all of the stall holders. We will be back!

Just Photos

I know it has been a few weeks since Lo's Quiting Bee - her fund raiser for cancer research - but here are a few more photos of the day. Here's Lo with a spectacular piece of work - all her own, which involved fabric painting, embroidery and a huge amount of embellishment.
It is a piece she should be very proud of!

Here are a couple of quilts that were on display.

Margaret from Creature Crafts had her daughter's Christmas stocking to show me - made by Margaret, of course!
And how about these toadstools! Made by a talented lady from the group.
Back home again - this is the sewing machine I learnt to sew on - when I think about it, we had to sew one-handed - the other was used to turn the handle! It was my grandma's and I treasure it!
That's all for now - a report about the Bendigo Craft Alive Show coming soon!
Happy Stitching!
Liz
P.S. It's school holidays, the weather is cold, and lots of my friends have "flown north", or even overseas, to warmer weather. Hmmmmm.....

Bendigo Craft Alive Show

I'll be at the Craft Alive Show at Bendigo this coming weekend - June 21st to 23rd. Three days of fun!
It's at the Bendigo Exhibition Centre, in the Prince of Wales Showgrounds.
I will have Grandpa with me (that's "Grandpa and Me", the quilt, as well as Himself who is also a Grandpa), and lots of other quilt patterns and assorted goodies.
See you there!
Liz
P.S. An owl stitchery quilt is on the go! Stay tuned.....

Watbag Weport

Wemember (whoops - that's Watbag speak!). Remember Watbag? Here's an update in his own words.....
Hello everyone, I’m in a bit of a quarry.
Last Wednesday night, Sooty was sitting on the Dad, with his paws over his eyes, I think he thought the Top Gear lap was going pear shaped and didn’t want to look.
Tigger was sitting on the Mum, helping with the knitting and purring very loudly.
Dad said, “You’ve got a little rattlegun”.
I looked and couldn’t see a gun of any kind, so I asked Tigger.
She said, “Don’t know, don’t care”.
I then asked Sooty, and he told me to look it up in the dicshonery.
A dicshonery must be a very big book if it has all those words in it, so I got the biggest one I could see. I needed a bit of help to get it on the table, and then I asked Sooty how to spell wattlegun.
“R R R Rattlegun”.
“Yes, R R R Wattlegun”.
But I couldn’t find it.
The book did have lots of words in it, and has lots of pitchas as well.
This looks good for wunch.
Dicshoneries have good things in them.
I’m getting sick of whiskas.
Now back to the wattlegun. I saw one on the car races yesterday. They were using it to take wheels off a car. I don’t see what that has to do with knitting.
Now Tigger is sitting on Mum, helping to knit again and purring very loudly - she sounds just like a wattlegun.
I still don’t go outside, I saw a mudlark chasing the Wedgetail Eagle, so it must be even scarier.
Now I’m going to see if I can send Mum messages like Sooty does, I want that dicshonery pitcha for wunch.
From Watbag
P.S. Tonight I'm going to sleep on top of the wardrobe in the Mum and Dad's bedroom, 'cos that's where Sooty and Tigger sleep and they said I could join them tonight. I hope they don't snore.........

Mug Shots at Drouin South

Here's a very proud Marg (and rightly so), with "Josh's Jungle", but made for Emerald! A lovely surprise for a very lucky girl!
Now for the mug shots - and you thought they were going to be faces with numbers under them, didn't you?!!
But no, they are actual mug shots!!!
The girls from my quilting group are very environmentally conscious - we all take a dilly bag to our quilting days, with mug, plate, cutlery (sometimes even a wine glass) - all those important things for the serious consumption of tea, coffee, cake, dinner, etc!!!!! We all look after our own dishes, so there is a fair distribution of the work - it's not left to one or two to do the washing up!
Last week all the ladies, another very environmentally conscious group, at Drouin South brought their own mugs, and here they are!
