Teeny Tiny Quilt

I made a teeny tiny quilt! This is how...... (If my measurements are wrong, please forgive me - it's the sort of thing that's fun to do, and you can play with your fabric and adjust the size to suit yourself. If you make a mistake (and I made quite a few!), there's no huge loss of expensive fabric!)
Cut two pieces of fabric, each 2" X 1", then sew them together along the long edge.
Cross cut them into two pieces and press open.
Sew them together - seams matching and colours alternating.
Press open. This is the wrong side ......Cut two more pieces, each 2" X 1 1/2", and sew one of them right sides facing, one eighth of an inch from the centre seam of the four patch. It's easier to do this from the wrong side where you can see the centre seam. Press open. Trim your edges.
Repeat this with the other 2" X 1 1/2" square. (Sorry - haven't got a photo with the two pieces attached!)
Now cut two more 2" squares, in a different colour. Repeat the above instructions and you should have something that looks like this......
......and then this...... (I kept trimming the edges - you can trim to the size you prefer)
Cut a piece of backing fabric to size and fuse to the quilt with a tiny piece of vliesofix.
Cut a binding strip the length required and press a fold along one edge.
Sew the binding to the little quilt, making teeny tiny mitred corners as you go. No - it hasn't changed colour - this photo shows another little block I made with stripey fabric.
Voila! Here are two finished quilts. The perfect size for one of your teddy bears!
Now - an Ohio Star? A Bear Paw? Hmmmm...........
Time for a cup of tea!

Bassinet Quilt

Another one finished! I'm amazing myself! QCE (trade only show) in June and I'm on track!!!!!
This one is a cute little bassinet quilt with a matching wall hanging - teddies in an old-fashioned pram and more teddies sitting on a toadstool - it says "Love me, love my teddy bear". You may have seen them as a work in progress in a recent blog. The stitcheries can be interchanged, they fit both designs. It's not on the website yet, but you can email me with any questions regarding purchasing this pattern. bears@teddlywinks.com.au
Now all I have to do is get these new designs into the shops, finish "Bearly Angels" (news about that one soon!), and also some little pre-printed stitcheries that I have been playing with. They will be released in June, if not sooner.
Happy stitching!

Candy Canes

My new Christmas quilt, "Candy Canes", is finished! I just have to "tweak" the pattern now, but it should be available in the next couple of weeks, and will be on the website, www.teddlywinks.com.au sometime in May. In the meantime, if you are desperate for this pattern, email me at bears@teddlywinks.com.au
News coming about the little bassinet quilt as well!
Coffee time!

Birdbath

A quick post because I haven't done one for a while - naughty!
Been busy getting patterns written up - brain drain sets in! I have to get all those measurements right!
We moved the birdbath because of the expected construction work (a little prematurely, I might add, because the planning permit is taking FOREVER), and the parrots did not take long to find it!

My Favourite Pen

My very favourite pen for tracing stitchery designs - a brown Zig Millennium marker - acid free, permanent, with a fine tip. Easy to use, no problems with nasty colour runs and the fine tip means that your stitches cover all the lines. (Except the stem of the leaf right down in the bottom left-hand corner - can you see it? Wonky stitching! I must have had a glass of "Chateau Cardboard" that night!!!)
I really don't like using a washable pen - the tip is too thick, it can't be ironed, and if it is not washed out completely before pressing, it can stain - and then all your lovely work would be spoilt!
Bye for now,
Liz
