King Parrots

I couldn't resist taking photos of this pair of king parrots that arrived this morning for their breakfast!
This cheeky one was flitting around outside the house, following me and calling out every time I was spied through the window! From bedroom to lounge to kitchen!
This one is a little more timid, and although we can get close to them, is the more wary of the two and prefers to stay in the feeder.
Off to put patterns together!!

The Blanket Box

On Saturday 3rd. October, I will be visiting The Blanket Box, a lovely patchwork shop run by Zoe, at Newcomb, near Geelong, Victoria. If you are in the area, drop in - I will have quilts on display and a range of patterns for sale. I will be there from 10.30am. (Is this, what is called in the patchwork world, a "Trunk Show"???)
The address is: Shop 5, 152 Bellarine Highway, Newcomb, Victoria. Hope to see you there!
(Goodness! I'm going to have to get up in the dark! Geelong is on the other side of Melbourne!)
Now here is another little teaser for you!

Land of the Long Weekend

The Melbourne Cup - the first Tuesday in November, and also a public holiday for the Melbourne Metropolitan area - if you live outside Australia, you'll be interested to know that this is probably the only country in the world where the entire nation stops for a horse race!!!! Many families and community groups make a day of it, and if they can't get to Flemmington for the race, they spend the day having barbecues or picnics, running Melbourne Cup sweeps for fun.
Many people take a holiday on the Monday as well, making it a four day break.
If you are in the Phillip Island area, there is a patchwork and woodcrafters show at Newhaven.
Here are the details:
Phillip Island Patchwork Display & Sales
including Wonthaggi Woodcrafters
Quilt raffle
Devonshire Tea
Sat. 31st. Oct until Tues. 3rd. Nov.
10am - 4pm.
Newhaven Hall
Admission: Adults $3.00 (children free)
Proceeds donated to:

Teddy Bears A-Plenty

I had coffee and a double choc-chip muffin after tea tonight - so - I'm awake! Went to bed, tossed and turned, re-designed the back garden in my head, planned tomorrow, solved the world's problems ........ and worried about a newsletter that I sent out today. Yes, I made that awful mistake of NOT blind carbon copying it! Which means everyone in that mail group gets a newsletter with everyone else's details on it. My apologies to all concerned - it won't happen again!
This afternoon I put together the quilt top of "Teddy Bears A-Plenty!" The fabrics are from Maywood Studio's Maid of Honor range, sent to me from Tim at Lloyd Curzon Textiles. I hope you like it - that's Himself holding it up for me, a bit wonky, but you get the idea!
Am I sleepy yet?
I'll give it another go!
Nighty night!

You think this is about one of my favourite desserts, don't you? Well you're wrong! It's about my friend, TiramiSue. No, that's not her real name, but she has a reputation for being a chocolate and coffee fiend! I actually dropped the comment today that I was drinking too much coffee and should cut it back a bit, and she said "Why?"
Sort of brings things into perspective, does Sue.
However, the reason she features in this posting is because she needs to blog!
She really needs to create her own blog.
You'd be amazed at the creations she, um, .......... creates! She's a very, um, .......... creative lady!
Anyway, I won't go into detail because I'm sure you'd like to wait and see for yourself.
So, Sue - here's the challenge!
Blog by the end of the month!!!!!
And here's a Father's Day photo of Big Foot!

Birdies is my new design - it will be on the website within days, so you will be able to see the stitcheries more clearly. In the meantime, here are a couple of pics to whet your appetite! This version has been made up in the Aviary range from Moda - a softer colour range than the bright "Birdies" fabrics in the original quilt. It gives you an idea of how different fabrics change the appearance and "look" of a design.
So girls, go out and get that favourite layer cake and create your own version of "Birdies"!!! Keep an eye on the website!
Happy stitching,

New Quilt

What will I call it? Here are some of the teddies (without faces, the poor little things!). It's coming along nicely, and I'm loving the little checks and stripes that suit tiny shirts, shorts and overalls so well!
I'm having fun with this one. The fabrics are from Maywood Studio, distributed in Australia by Lloyd Curzon Textiles. The range is called "Maid of Honor".
I'm having trouble coming up with a name for this design. Any suggestions?

The Stig

I hope all the Dads had a great Father's Day - it was lovely to spend time with the three generations of men in our family. Do you like David's Father's Day present - "Stiggy Bank"?
(He (The Stig, not David!) must have an awful headache from all those coins dropped through the slot! )
Anyway, I love Father's Day because it is the beginning of Spring, the bluebells are blossoming and my "Baby Bear" camellia is in bloom!
More news soon about new designs.
