The Challenge

Here is Helen Stubbings' block from the Bluebird of Hope quilt. Isn't it stunning! I'll post more pics, but you really must have a look at the Quilt Aid website. The link is to the left.
My friend Bron and I each have four 6" squares of fabric (actually she has five) and we have set ourselves a challenge. Make something (secretly) by this time next month. Bron's colours are similar to mine, but she needs a prod to get motivated! I'll keep you informed!

Bluebird of Hope

Oooh, I forgot - the Bluebird of Hope charity quilt was launched last week at the Darling Harbour show - click on the Quilt Aid link to view all the completed blocks, and the finishing kits. It's GORGEOUS!!!! This is my block - the photo is a bit small, but it gives you an idea!

Layer Cakes

I have a couple of irresistible layer cakes - one of them is "Bistro", which has been around for a while, and the other is "Birdie", which is new and very cute! I also bought some border fabric with a coffee "flavour", and a feature print to go with it. I have ideas for the "Birdies", but the coffee fabric is in my stash waiting for inspiration!
Here are some photos.

My lunch with "The Girls" was an expensive affair!!! I got a parking ticket!!! Not pleased because we were all watching the time, and we all moved our cars well within the limit. Can't work that one out! Obviously not allowed to move your car from a two hour zone to a one hour zone! Hmmmm........
Oh well, worse things can happen!

More QCE News

I'm nearly "fed up"!!
Out for morning tea with "The Girls".
Out for lunch with different "The Girls".
Out for tea (shortly) with "The Nuff Nuffs", as we so affectionately call our long-time friends. When we get home tonight I'll be all "fed up"!!!!
More QCE news - congratulations to The Patchwork Tea House for receiving the award for most professionally run patchwork shop in Victoria!!!!!! And congratulations to Patchwork with Gail B for receiving the award for best patchwork shop in Victoria!!!!!! These awards were voted for by the suppliers in the business, not the general public. Well done to everyone!
I always come home from these trade shows with a warm fuzzy feeling - there are so many lovely people in the business. Helen Stubbings from Hugs & Kisses was there - she is the beautiful lady who supplies me with iron-on transfers for some of my patterns. Her daughter Molly was with her. Great to catch up with both of them.
I also chatted to Tim from Lloyd Curzon Textiles who has also been a great help to me over the last couple of years.
I have finished a couple more blocks from Sylvia's Bridal Sampler - "Broken Dishes" and "Lemoyne Star" (please ignore the wonky bits!).
Bye for now,

Sydney QCE

It has been a while since my last posting - been away in Sydney for the Quilt & Craft Expo - trade show. Here are a few photos of my stand.

One of the really nice things about doing the trade shows is that we can catch up with friends in the same business - we were lucky to have a good friend next to us, the lovely Natalie Ross of In Stitches (to the right in the photo). She is such an up-lifting person to have around - always has an encouraging word - the type of person who makes you feel good. And the world needs more of those! Her new design "Going Bananas" is a hoot! Check out her blog!
Sue Daley (to the left in the photo) of Patchwork with Busy Fingers had a stand just up the aisle from us - it was mayhem when we all met up! Sue and Jim have become firm friends, also with lots of encouraging words for us!
More about the show, and my new webcam, later!
