Bill and Me

Look what I found! An old photo of me with my big brother Bill! Aren't we cute! And how about that pram! Wish we still had it!
This is me again with Bill's pedal car - sun smart even then! When I was older I had a scooter and I used to get very frustrated with my brothers because without me finding out they would tie down the brake. Off I'd go, merrily on my way..... until it came time to stop! Whoops..... no brakes!
I love old photos.

New Apron

My new apron! I help out at The Patchwork Tea House at Warburton for a few hours on Fridays - my old apron was beginning to look a little sad and tired. All the girls at the Tea House were wearing new aprons made out of the "Verandah" range of fabrics, so not to be out-done, I "whipped one up" with my teddy logo at the top! We threatened to make one for Gary as well - he was "not amused"!!!
Sean is visiting tomorrow - something lovely to look forward to!

I took these photos of the sky last Sunday - a combination of smoke, cloud, ash and evening sunlight. Also the moon - an orange ball. Strangely and eerily beautiful, but sinister and malevolent. And in the middle - a rainbow! The following photo has been around the world - koalas do not normally drink. They get enough fluid from the eucalypt leaves they eat. They can also be quite aggressive and have extremely sharp claws - they are not always the cute cuddly creatures that they appear to be. However, in disastrous times, man and nature can work in harmony. We consider our fire fighters to be true heroes - and most of them are volunteers who go through intensive training to help protect their environment, property and loved ones. This little koala suffered burns to her paws but the animal aid workers have been looking after her and she is recovering.
Words cannot describe what is happening here at the moment - everyone is contributing in some small way and it never ceases to amaze me how the Aussie spirit comes to the fore in extremely distressing times.Take care,

Bunny Trail

My latest design - "Bunny Trail" - with plenty of time to whip one up before Easter! (Eggs already in the shops - can you believe it?) Two cute baskets, and a bunny with an Easter egg in his pocket.
It's not on the website yet, but will be soon. The price is $20 (overseas $22) which includes the postage. Something to cheer us up during these grim times.

My heart goes out to the many people who have lost their homes and loved ones, not to mention pets, livestock and businesses, in the bushfires, which are still burning strongly in some areas. It is a terrifying experience, and devastating for small communities. The little township of Marysville is no more - a very pretty and historically significant township wiped off the map in a single day. Chum Creek has gone. Most of Kinglake has gone. Very, very sad and very, very distressing.
The photo is of the Coldstream fires from our front garden - it was moving in our direction until the cool change came through. We were lucky - we had ash, but no burning embers, but we remained vigilant - the hot northerly winds were atrocious. If anyone is wondering how they can help - please donate to the emergency services - they need all the financial help they can get. Also the Bushfires Appeal - the Bendigo Bank is taking donations.
A very sad and distressing time.

Bunny Button

Some new fabric - it's just screaming Easter Bunny! And I have a cute little rabbit button. Now, let's see what I can do with these bits and pieces!

Hmmmmm ....... you'll have to wait and see!
That's all for now!
