Hello - me again! Ladies have asked me what I mean by false or mock blanketstitch when working applique designs. It's simply the blanketstitch continued from around the raw edges of the fabric extending along the drawn lines of details, such as the arm of the teddy in the photo. It can also be used to define the bear's muzzle - see the second photo. In this shot you can also see how I have used the fused nose piece as a template and covered it with satin stitch. I think it looks much nicer than trying to blanketstitch such a tiny piece!
Bye for now,
from a very excited Grandma-To-Be!
